Buiten broedtijd
Vaal Stormvogeltjes zijn echte kustbewoners die bij ons bijna alleen langs de Noordzeekust en af en toe in de Waddenzee worden gezien. Het voorkomen is nagenoeg beperkt tot het najaar. Op dagen met harde aanlandige winden tussen september en half november worden op de zeetrektelposten soms vele tientallen per dag geregistreerd en verschijnen ze ook voor de Waddenkust in Groningen en Friesland. Waarnemingen buiten de periode juli-november zijn bijzonder zeldzaam, net als waarnemingen in het diepe binnenland.
