Voorkomen
Exoot Tussen 1967 – 1973 werden verschillende groepen van tientallen individuen uitgezet, op de Veluwe, bij Langbroek in Utrecht en op Schiermonnikoog. Deze populaties hadden een laag broedsucces, waren sterk afhankelijk van bijvoerring in de winter en hadden bovendien te maken met een hoge predatiedruk. De populatie bestond hooguit uit enkele tientallen broedparen, maar de soort heeft nooit vaste voet aan de grond gekregen in ons land. Tegenwoordig worden alleen nog incidenteel ontsnapte exemplaren gezien.

The Red-legged Partridge is an exotic species and therefore falls outside Article 1 of the Birds Directive, which relates to all natural wild bird species on the European territory of the EU Member States. The Red-legged Partridge is therefore not protected under the Nature Conservation Act.
