Voorkomen
Exoot Herkomstgebied India en Sri Lanka Broedgevallen van ontsnapte vogels zijn gedocumenteerd vanaf 1974. De eerste landdekkende inventarisatie in 1998-2000 bracht 5-15 paren aan het licht. In 2017 zijn twee paar succesvol broedend vastgesteld. In de wintermaanden is de soort in meerdere kilometerhokken gemeld. Vogels kunnen soms jarenlang ter plekke blijven.

The Indian Peafowl is an exotic species and therefore falls outside Article 1 of the Birds Directive, which relates to all natural wild bird species on the European territory of the EU Member States. The Indian Peafowl is therefore not protected under the Nature Conservation Act.
